Soo I'm looking for a new headset.. Im pretty open for anything except 7.1s..
I need good positional audio for cs and no overpowered base. Im looking for clear sound over the typical "gaming 313370r" stuff. Would prefer a built in mic but if theres a good clip on itll be fine too..
Pricepoint.. Well. If its like the best headset evur and holds until i die im willing to go up to 200€.. But it must be a godlike headset then. Other than that not more than 100 (preferably including the mic)..
+rep for serious answers and to the guy who explains me if theres any quality difference in usb vs 3.5 and whats better.
I still stand by my thoughts that 3.5mm will always be better than USB. Granted it comes from 10 years ago when the difference was massive but even though USB connection audio has improved, it is still inferior IMHO. You only need to see over the last few years that whenever someone has had audio problems, they have done so via a USB headset.

That said, it does depend on a few things. Firstly if your mobo is crap and you don't have a separate sound card, then there will be little point in turning down a USB headset as the virtual surround sound they produce will outweight the occasional problems you will get with them. Secondly if you have a console, a USB headset can be used with it too.

As a gamer though you will most likely have a decent mobo so therefore why would you not want the absolute best audio experience?
Hmm i have a z77 g45 gaming from msi - the best of that chipset and series so i suppose the audio chipset should be decent. At least i never ran across any problems. I'm kinda oldschool and prefer 3.5 too but ive never used usb or even looked into the differences and features that it brings so thanks for the post. I shall rep you when im at home (more rep to be collected for other people posting)

Also consoles arent an option. I mean.. Consoles... Lol
A lot of turtle beach headsets use both USB and 3.5 connections, so they give the best of both worlds. They have some pretty awesome stereo as well if digital surround isn't your thing. My old turtle beach stereo's have top notch positional sound in csgo, as well as in-line bass control. Apparently the new logitech g430 (or something like that) stereo headsets are very cool as well.

Are you looking for wired or wireless?
I'd consider a pair of HD 598's and a clip on microphone, they use the same drivers as the headset I just got and the positional sound of my new headset is amazing, with not too much bass at all. I even went to amazon for you.

HA, clip on microphone? He's not a peasant like you. Steve has class and sophistication, just like me.
That little clip on microphone has sounder better than every single microphone i've had except the one on my sennheiser headset. I'd recommend them if they weren't so damn expensive.
Def. Wired thanks for the input, ill rep all of you laterss
SJ, you haven't sounded as good as you did when you first joined the clan. You've improved over the last headset you owned but its still nowhere near what you were using in 2012.
Was using the Asus ROG headset then, that mic sounds like shit
Turtle Beach X12. Cheap, durable, gooseneck mic, and has inline mute, volume and base controls.

If you want to listen to music too then take the money you save and put it towards a proper set of open back headphones from a company like AKG or Beyerdynamic. Don’t waste any money on headset brands or overpriced crap from companies like Bose or Beats (unless you’re a hipster).
I'm all for any mic that muffles Sj's voice.

Thanks for the suggestion, luckily I can say of myself to be smart enough never having felt the need of will to one of those overpriced piece of shit headcrabs named "beats". I don't even care what Bose is.. Beats are seriously the worst and most overpriced headphones I've seen in my entire life. They perfectly show the forces of the right marketing. They sound like utter shit...

The repping might take a few days - you get restricted way too quickly :/
Maybe I should not rep chef as a message to allow more reps per day Big Grin
I tried all the fancy £200-300 headsets in HMV. They all sounded the same. And shit.
My dad bought a pair of 1000DM headphones in the 1990s by Sennheiser (I think it was sennheiser), he recently put some new foam on them and fixed a few things and they sound so good. Honestly the best headphones I've ever used, when listening to high quality versions of songs you hear instruments and notes you never even noticed on normal headphones. Sooooo gooooooood Big Grin
Problem solved then, just buy a clip on mic Wink
Hes using it for drumming and will never allow me to use it for gaming :/
kill him
Well that escalated quickly
My bad, I keep forgetting to filter what I'm thinking.

But still, if you killed him you could have it. Just a thought.
